You don’t have to travel all the way to the Galapagos to observe a remarkable variety of seabirds. At the Marietas Islands, you can witness species such as the world-famous blue-footed booby, magnificent frigatebirds, various seagulls, herons, egrets, and pelicans as they nest and rest on the islands. The abundance and diversity of birds make this a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers looking to capture these incredible creatures in their natural habitat.
The snorkeling experience at Marietas Islands National Park offers a glimpse into a vibrant underwater world. The reefs are home to a wide variety of fish, including king angelfish, Moorish idols, giant damselfish, surgeonfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, and balloon fish. The rocky reefs also host corals, sponges, tunicates, starfish, sea urchins, and other marine invertebrates, all of which your guide will point out. With a little patience, you may even spot dolphins or sea turtles nearby. Unlike larger tours, this trip focuses on small groups, giving you more time to snorkel and fully enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the islands.

Crystal clear turquoise water, ideal for snorkeling ✨️🫶🏼

On one of the Marist Islands is La Nopalera Beach. The water is crystal clear and an intense Caribbean blue! It's only accessible on a tour. I highly recommend "Rivera Mita Tours" at the El Coral restaurant. It's a wonderful experience because, to top it off! Literally! We were lucky enough to see whales 🐋 and their calves on the way there and back. Beautiful places in our country 😍

Look. It is quite a trek, you can only get there with a tour, only 125 are allowed on the island on any day, it is closed two days a week... HOWEVER, if you do get the opportunity to go, seize it! Saw many whales on the way to the island, which could have been a tour on its own, but combined with this, totally worth it. The island is a nature preserve with no dock, so you have to swim to shore, and the swim was short, but not at all easy. Definitely tests your strength as a swimmer, but this was probably one of my favorite experiences on a vacation to date. DO IT!

Gorgeous, much more peaceful than it’s neighbor island’s hidden beach.
