We were here as part of a tour purchased on Norwegian cruise. The tour was informative with history regarding the Agave plant (types). The tour culminating with enough tequila to satisfy most the tasters. There are clean bathrooms (tips optional, food and shops, inside and out. It is a little out of the way, but worth the trip. Our tour guide said the public bus is fairly cheap but taxi is like $20 bucks each way, not sure about this, so check the bus schedules. Over all, the tour from Norwegian and the to Doña Engracia gave a really good look at the good side of city and the more typical side and we also got to see the countryside. If you're on a cruise and think this tour is for you, I recommend it
This excursion was organized by our cruise ship. I knew beforehand that it wasn’t an actual working tequila factory, but we still enjoyed the tour / tequila tasting — mostly thanks to our guide, Pepe, who made it fun and engaging. Many people call this place a tourist trap, especially considering the high prices ($60–100 for a bottle of tequila, $10–20 for a cigar...). However, no one pressures you to buy anything — if you don’t want to, you simply don’t have to. The tacos were fresh made and tasty, and the spicy sauce was very HOT — definitely worth the $7 for three pieces. The margarita, on the other hand, wasn’t great, so I do regret spending $8 on that one. Overall, it was an enjoyable outing, mainly because of their excellent guide.
We came as part of a royal Caribbean cruise excursion. (Mountain biking through the country side) Great tacos! Tequila tasting was super fun!
