The colorful Pena Palace is absolutely stunning. We spent about three hours exploring and managed to see everything related to the palace. You also have the option to visit the gardens and surrounding areas, which are beautiful and worth the time. I highly recommend buying your tickets online. If you purchase them a few days in advance, around three days, the price is much cheaper. There are buses and tuk-tuks available to take you up to the palace entrance, but the best value for us was taking a taxi, which cost only 8 euros in total. The cafeteria is so simple, it may worth to redesign the area. I would definitely come back!
There is a dedicated bus shuttle to ferry visitors to the palace. The palace is not very huge able to complete the walk around within one hour. It was a very interesting historical tour. I think it is better to take a local tour as it include transportation and the entrance ticket.
Beautiful palace with incredible views and vibrant colors. Be sure to go early and get your tickets in advance. It’s located up in the mountains, so expect a bit of a breeze — but the scenery is absolutely worth it.
