Upon arrival at the Lafitte dock, you’ll find free parking and a smooth check-in process where staff will greet you, provide a wristband, and direct you to the boarding area. Once on the water, a native guide brings the bayou to life through rich storytelling, sharing the history, culture, and “joie de vivre” of the Cajun people. Glide through cypress swamps and winding bayous once traveled by famed privateer Jean Lafitte, uncovering tales of his smuggling empire and the historic fishing village that still thrives today. Wildlife sightings are abundant—alligators, egrets, raccoons, snakes, and nutria—offering a true glimpse of Louisiana’s wild side, especially during warmer months.

Throughout the tour, you’ll learn how the wetlands are rapidly disappearing due to coastal erosion and the ongoing efforts to restore this vital ecosystem.
