Our hiking guide, Jordan, was incredibly knowledgeable and prepared. A few days before our hike, after some questions about our fitness level and what we were looking for, he gave us a choice of three different hikes with photos and descriptions of the views. Because of his extensive mountain and outdoor skills/experience, I never felt any fear. He went at a pace that was easy to keep up with and encouraged us along the way. I would highly recommend booking a hike with him.
On September 11, 2025 my 25 year old son and I (64) went on a day hike with Sarah of SJE. We were looking for someone who knew the terrain, weather conditions and could teach a couple of guys who have never hiked. Sarah took us on a fantastic hike. She taught us what we needed to know and kept us safe. A storm was rolling in and she knew when we needed to head back down. I am definitely going to use SJE again. Rock climbing next, then a 14er!
San Juan Expeditions is an exceptional group. They were easy to work with, great with communication and a blast to ski with. The guides have extensive experience in backcountry skiing and alpinism and are extremely knowledgeable about the San Juan region. Our group felt safe and had an amazing two days of backcountry skiing. We look forward to working with their guides again on a future trip!!
