Your journey begins at the Coyote Aventuras office as we make our way into the quiet and remote communities of the Sierra Norte, a region known for its misty mountains, ancient forests, and deeply rooted cultural traditions. After traveling through scenic highlands, we arrive in the peaceful village of Cuajimoloyas, one of the cherished mountain communities surrounded by rolling hills, floating clouds, and vibrant pine landscapes. Here, a comforting breakfast picnic awaits before we begin exploring the heart of this enchanting town. As we walk through its peaceful paths and learn about the rhythms of local life, we dive into the essence of Comunalidad, the guiding philosophy through which the mountain communities organize their territory, their governance, and their collective responsibilities. Our hike takes us through a tapestry of wildflowers, towering agave, golden cornfields, pine and oak forests, and breathtaking viewpoints that reveal the region’s natural richness. Along the trail we pause for a peaceful picnic and moments of reflection, appreciating the deep connection between the people and the land they protect with remarkable dedication.

Following our mountain hike, we join a Community Tour that allows us to engage directly with local residents and discover the customs and daily practices that shape their harmonious relationship with the forest. After sharing a well deserved regional lunch, we settle into our warm and inviting cabins in a traditional village where the legacy of Zapotec culture blends seamlessly with the serenity of mountain life. As dusk softens the landscape, the village becomes a calm refuge, inviting you to unwind and embrace the timeless atmosphere of the Sierra Norte. A nourishing dinner completes the evening before rest or quiet stargazing. The next morning begins with the option of a sunrise walk, a gentle way to greet the day with sweeping mountain views. After breakfast we explore the historic Camino Real trail of Lachatao, wandering through peaceful forests while learning about the ancient history, living traditions, and ecological treasures of the region. With hearts full and spirits renewed, we conclude our hike and enjoy a final meal before returning to Oaxaca City, carrying with us the memories of an inspiring journey through the mountains.
