Ultimate Day Out

The Ultimate Day Out offers a full day of adventure for those who love the outdoors. Guests begin their journey at Kariri Point Reserve on Lake Tarawera, boarding a water taxi for a scenic 35-minute ride across the lake to Tapahoro, also known as the Tarawera Outlet. From there, participants embark on the Tarawera Falls Walk, an easy to moderate loop taking approximately three and a half hours. Along the way, walkers enjoy native bush, cascading waterfalls, and stunning lake views. The walk concludes back at the Tarawera Outlet Jetty, where the water taxi returns guests to Hot Water Beach for a brief stop to admire the geothermal features before continuing to the natural bush hot pool at Wairua Stream.

At the natural hot pool, visitors can relax in the warm geothermal waters surrounded by native forest, creating a peaceful and restorative experience. The excursion finishes with a water taxi ride back to Kariri Point Reserve, arriving around mid-afternoon. This full-day adventure is suitable for friends, families, couples, and small groups, offering a mix of walking, scenic boating, and geothermal relaxation. Participants should bring comfortable walking shoes, drinking water, lunch, a camera, swimming attire, towels, and sunscreen.
