Discovery Tour - Cultural & Geothermal Cruise

Guests begin the experience with an exhilarating water taxi ride across Lake Tarawera, traveling through the Te Ariki Arm to Hot Water Beach. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes and offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding native forest. Along the way, visitors learn about the areas unique Maori cultural history, geothermal features, and diverse ecosystem from their knowledgeable guide. Upon arrival at Hot Water Beach, guests have the opportunity to explore the geothermal area, witnessing natural hot springs and bubbling pools in a beautiful forest setting. This part of the tour combines both educational and scenic experiences, providing insight into the regions natural and cultural significance.

After exploring the geothermal features, guests board the boat again for a short trip along the bush-lined lake edge to the Natural Bush Hot Pool. Here, visitors can spend around 30 minutes relaxing in the crystal-clear tempered waters, enjoying the unspoiled native forest environment, or taking a refreshing swim in the lake. The total duration of the tour is approximately two hours. Guests are advised to bring comfortable walking shoes, drinking water, swimming togs and a towel, a camera, and sunscreen. Travel is provided in an all-weather boat, and refreshments are available to enhance the overall experience.
