My girlfriend and I stopped at Jacob’s Ranch for a trail ride during our trip through Zion, and it ended up being the highlight of our visit—truly one of the best experiences of our lives. We were hosted by Josie and Joshua, who were both incredible. They were kind, funny, and made sure we were completely comfortable on our horses. I’ve only ridden a horse maybe twice in my life, yet I ended up full-on galloping during the ride. The process of choosing and connecting with a horse beforehand was amazing and absolutely worth the time. As for the initial phone call, yes, it was long—as some reviews mention—but it was actually enjoyable. Jackson just wants to make sure you’re prepared for the experience you’re about to have. I can’t recommend Jacob’s Ranch enough to anyone considering it. I’m by no means an avid horse person, but this trail ride is 100% worth it. Thank you again to Josie and Joshua! You two were awesome!

The first mistake I made, was not reading the reviews before calling. I called as we were driving to Springdale. I asked “how much to go horseback riding?”. Well, one, I never got an answer. I don’t know if the gentleman who answered the phone is the owner? Well, instead, I was told about the experience. That’s great, I love that they offer that experience. Yes, I’ve only done trails that are “nose to tail” in his words. But, I’m not a trained horse person, so I feel safe when that horse that I’m on, knows the trail we’re on. I then told said gentleman that we are only in Zion for two full days, which he then proceeded to say “you can’t do that in two days, you might as well go home”!!???? What the ….. ok so make us feel like we’re losers, for 1) having jobs that don’t allow us more time off & 2) not giving the park enough time! We’ve been there before, & from where we live, I don’t care if all I got was one hour in the park, because of the natural beauty, I’ll take what I can get. Ok, so this 20 minute phone call got into science, medicine, politics, religion, & MIND YOU, I did not bring any of those topics up! He also shared his 90 second video to me, told me to find “two other people who have had a better riding experience than what he offers, & we can ride for free!!”. I guess I can admire his enthusiasm for the real experience, but stick to your business topic, & discuss what you’re passionate about outside of horses, with a different crowd. Don’t use random people calling in as your platform to discuss these other topics. Bottom line, I never got the price & we didn’t go. I felt very chastised for having only two days in the park. Who is he to tell me that. My family and I laugh at it now, but for real, he made us feel awful. & from the other reviews where he responds with “I recorded the phone calls, take this review down!!!”…. Well I think it’s against the law to record any phone call without asking first for permission to do it. If he recorded my phone call, I NEVER WAS ASKED, therefore, never granted him permission to do so. Photo added of Angels Landing in Zion.

A slow but super cool ride through challenging terrain! It was a lot of fun and the horses were in good condition!

It seemed shorter than the guidelines, and a very short looped route. The guide was informative and made sure we felt comfortable.

My wife and I had an amazing experience at Jacob’s Ranch! Jackson was helpful on the phone call with explaining the ranch and making sure we enjoyed it afterwards. He genuinely cares about your horseback experience. From start to finish, the day included every aspect of horseback riding, including learning about the horses, creating a bond with the one you pick, then gaining comfort riding. My wife and I were pretty much beginners, but ended up riding for hours through the Mesas, up the gauntlet, and got to ride fast constantly through the day. Our wrangler Micheal was amazing! She was super good at her job and was very fun to talk to throughout the entire day. She also quickly got us riding the horses in ways we never thought we could. Just trust your horse! Overall, this was an incredible experience that we won’t forget and we’ll for sure be back one day. Definitely money well spent.

What can I say about this experience?? Absolutely blew my mind. I will tell you that if you can get through the initial phone call, and trust me there is a purpose for it and it is completely worth it, you will have the best experience you have ever had on a horse. They don’t just stick you on a horse and ride in a line. They let you pick your horse and then teach you how to work with that horse and create a relationship with that animal, so amazing. And then you get to the ride and like I said, it is not a stay in a line, nose to ass experience. This is a let the horse show you their full potential and speed and well as climbing hills that feel like a mountain. Racing through dry lake beds to going down some very steep terrain and then galloping up some very vertical hills. From start to finish it was amazing I can’t say enough about our wrangler, Joshua. He is patient, kind, and very knowledgeable when it comes to being a cowboy. This was hands down one of the best experiences I have ever had and would definitely recommend!!!!!!

Jacob’s Ranch was the BEST trail ride I have EVER experienced!!! To start, I want to echo what other posters have said - if the initial phone call gives you pause, I urge you to give Jacob’s ranch a shot, unless REALLY all you want to do is ride around at a walk for an hour. This is an experience LEARNING about horses with hands on experience, and the initial phone call just demonstrates how passionate Jacob’s Ranch really is about horsemanship. We rode during our honeymoon with Joshua who was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and patient. We spent the morning getting to know our horses and working with them on the pen and around the ranch. Once we were ready to ride, we had a snack and head out for the rest of the day. After crossing through town, we made it to the BLM land where Redbull Rampage was taking place. Although the horses weren’t used to the bikers and signs, they handled them exceptionally well. Once past that, we rode across plains, through ravines, over hills, and alongside cliffs. I have been riding my whole life, but my husband has only ridden a handful of time and he was able to gallop alongside us no problem. We both had the BEST time!!!! I will 1000% be coming back to ride with Jacob’s Ranch in the future - it was truly one of the most fun days of my entire life!! YOU MUST GO!!!
