A timeline of Picasso's artwork, from the beginning to his later years. With over 4,000 paintings, plan for at least half a day, or a full day if you want to truly appreciate them. Don't get sidetracked by temporary exhibitions if you're short on time.

The Picasso Museum was wonderful. I highly recommend paying for a tour like we did. Hosted or audio/video tours enable you to skip the line, insights and a "highlight reel" so you can get the most out of your time, and often access to additional features or areas, plus time to stay as long as you want after. I have also found it a great way to get to know a local, get their tips, male friends with other tourists, etc.

The Picasso Museum is one of the most worthwhile places to visit in Barcelona. Not only is the admission fee reasonable, but its extensive collection spans Picasso’s entire artistic journey—from his early years of learning to paint to his late old age. As an art lover, I was able to fully experience Picasso’s fascinating spirit, his restless refusal to accept the status quo, and his extraordinary talent.

I’m not so artistic and visited this place because it was free on that day. I enjoyed seeing the huge amount of paintings he had in his entire life. His story and trips to different cities in the world was really interesting. There was also some other museums at the same time dedicated to other artists and it was also amazing.

The Picasso Museum is an incredible look into the early life and evolution of one of the world’s most influential artists. The collection is thoughtfully curated, showing Picasso’s progression from childhood prodigy to groundbreaking master. The layout is easy to follow, the descriptions are clear, and the building itself—tucked into the Gothic Quarter—adds to the experience. It’s not overwhelming, but rich enough to spend a meaningful amount of time exploring. A must-visit for art lovers and anyone interested in seeing Picasso’s journey up close. Book ahead to skip the line and enjoy this beautifully presented museum.
