Your journey begins in Sapporo, Japan, where you’ll arrive via New Chitose Airport and be welcomed by our guides. From there, you’ll travel to Otaru, your base for the start of the week. This location provides access to a variety of ski areas, including Kokusai, Kiroro, and Sapporo Teine, while also allowing you to explore Otaru’s rich culture, cuisine, and vibrant nightlife in the evenings. The trip focuses on smaller, less crowded resorts, offering a more authentic Hokkaido experience.
Midweek, the adventure continues north to Asahikawa City to explore Asahi-Dake, Furano, and a few “secret” local spots. Depending on conditions, the trip may include lift-assisted ski touring or full touring to access untouched powder. Participants must have touring equipment, some ski touring experience, and a strong fitness level. This trip is tailored for advanced skiers comfortable in black diamond tree terrain (28–38 degrees). Each day’s location is chosen based on weather, participant experience, and real-time insights from our local network of guides and ski professionals, ensuring the best snow conditions even when others face closures or poor weather.

Kiroro is a kids friedly and lovely atmosphere. The snow is still well groomed even in late April this year (2025)

I got a two day pass with ski rentals. The total came out to about $200, so $100 per day. You can’t even ski without rentals for that price in most places in the U.S. I also used their bus service to get there from Sapporo and back. Accommodations at the resort were expensive, so it was an easy way to save money. The bus service is prompt and efficient. The snow was a dream, and all the lifts were open during my two days there. As you can see from the photos, there were no crowds, which made the skiing even better. On the first day, the visibility was great, and you could see the Sea of Japan from the summit. Absolutely stunning. All the workers were kind and friendly. The food was okay, but I wasn’t there for the food anyways.

Kiroro has amazing powder snow! It’s really soft and fluffy. When we visited, it was snowing, which made skiing even more fun. However, there aren’t many green routes, so beginners might find it a bit boring at times. The downside for me was the food—it wasn’t great, even the ramen, which I expected to be good, was disappointing. But one thing I really liked was that it wasn’t too crowded, making the experience much more enjoyable!

Well groomed slopes, interesting runs. The new gondola that doesn't serve any real purpose, slow and not connected to any slope. Hiking up the hill to get to the lifts and gondola... Not a real ski-in/ski-out. Mediocre food offerings and expensive, don't even give you complimentary water fountain for such expensive lift tickets. Expensive rentals and don't even allow you to try on sizes the night before for the next day pickup, have to pay EXTRAs for that service!!! Sunrise was 7am and the lifts only operate at 9am! Why not start earlier progressively as the day gets longer, more money to be made! The consolation of above all, mother nature bless with lots of JaPow. It's only worth it if there's heavy snowfall. Hence expensive lift tickets. Day trip is best option, over priced accommodations on the mountain.

Nice place to take my first ski. Wasn't that crowded (ps i was there at mid Dec). Good services everywhere. Can rent gear and wear set. Need to bring or buy your own gloves and beanie.
