This was a wonderful fast paced and educational tasting experience. Our guide, Carina, was great - she explained both the food and the cultural/historical context of all. From fruit to drinks to snacks to meats and desserts, I lost count of how many things we tasted in just two hours. The space is easy to get to and clean, including a bathroom. I highly recommend!

Ana was amazing. We had so much fun at our cooking class today. We made pao de queijo, tapioca crepes, Moqueca with monk fish and shrimps, brigadeiro and of course caipirnha! Super fun and delicious. Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon but make sure you come hungry! You will be stuffed!

Our class with Chef Ana at Cook in Rio was fantastic! Before the class, very clear instructions were sent on where to find the space. The class starts with learning how to make Caipirinhas (which then you're able to make more on your own). Alongside us was with a group of six sisters, which added to the fun. We all worked together to make the various dishes, including Pão de Queijo, Farofa, Picanha, Brigadeiro, and others! When Chef Ana learned three of the sisters did not eat red meat, she and her assistant quickly pivoted and were able to get fish from the market and add Fish Moqueca to the menu- truly impressive hospitality. We enjoyed learning with Chef Ana about food, cooking technique, Brazilian culture, and her own culinary experience as a Chef! Come ready to participate and make sure to share dietary restrictions ahead of time. We highly recommend Cook in Rio and Chief Ana!!

My family and I had a wonderful day here. I love the market tour and all the food today. We learned about many different forms and dishes made from cassava. It was our first time trying the sweetest fruit in the world. This class gave me a true understanding of Brazilian cuisine. Chef Ana was very friendly and professional. She explained the origins of the food well, respected the natural flavors, and kept the kitchen tidy and well-organized throughout the class. I’m especially grateful for her patience with my two children. We really enjoyed her cooking style and hope to learn from her again on our next trip:)

We travel somewhat regularly, and have found that the local food/fruit/market tours offer an incredible value for a peek (and possibly taste) of local life. We scheduled a fruit tasting and market tour with Cook in Rio. This tour was an incredible highlight amongst our group! Our guide took us around a local market, showing us different foods and explaining how some are used within local cuisine. Then we sat down to taste a whole bunch of in-season tropical fruits! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The entire experience was the perfect way to start the day and a welcome addition to the overall trip in Brazil.
