Tijuca National Park is an absolute masterpiece and a must-visit in Rio de Janeiro. It is surreal to find yourself in the world’s largest urban rainforest just minutes from the city streets, surrounded by crisp air, waterfalls, and incredible wildlife. The view from Vista Chinesa is easily one of the best in Brazil, offering a unique perspective of the Christ statue and the coastline. I highly recommend going early in the morning to enjoy the peace and arranging a driver in advance since cell service can be spotty inside the forest. Whether you are there for a scenic drive or a hike, this park is a breathtaking escape that perfectly captures the natural soul of Rio.

Worth visiting. The weather on the day was cloudy with occasional light drizzle. The park was wet after last night's rain. This add on to the experience of "venturing" into a rainforest. We booked through Viator while Grayline leads the tour. Our guide, Ms Roberta was very knowledgeable and guided us through the tour. The views on top were breathtaking. Muito bem 👍🏼👍🏼

If your intention is to have a good sports day away from the beach, this is a great alternative. There are many different hiking trails here from the very easy to much more complex ones and even a trail for the seeing impaired!!! 👀 we went with a guide, a tour that ended up being very interesting. But there were many groups of people that were just in groups doing their own thing , so I don't necessarily think you have to have a guide. There's a cup of nice waterfalls , not all of them you can bathe in , but the one that we visited for swimming was more of a shower than actual swimming pond! Good place to also escape the heat of the city.Even though we were told by our guide that when it's very hot outside , it gets double hot sauna style in there. Unfortunately, for us, we did not get to see many animals. We heard lots of birds that we did not see and we saw some monkeys. But I was hoping to see much more. And unfortunately when we went that was not the case. As far as what you should wear while you're there , we were in sneakers and t shirt and shorts. We did see some people wearing tall hiking boots and walking sticks. The bathrooms in the park itself are free. But there are trails that have a cafe with bathrooms but they charge almost 4 reals .. You are discouraged at all times of feeding the animals however I did see some locals giving bananas to the monkeys.

A local friend booked us on the Indiana Jungle Tour which I enjoyed very much!!! Don’t miss the Museum Açude built circa 1920-30s. Antonio and fernando are great guide!!i appreciated their knowledge of the jungles plants。

The Tijuca National Park is beautiful! We arrived by Uber and walked up to the falls. It was a nice walk and seeing the waterfall was worth it! It's so beautiful and serene! It's the perfect backdrop for some amazing photos! There was a "natural water fountain" coming out of the mountain! Cold, fresh water. One of the guides from a tour filled up her canteen while we were there. That was pretty cool. The park at the bottom is cute. I took off 1 star only because of the no-see-ums, also known as biting midges,  "maruim" or "mosquitinho-do-mangue". You MUST wear insect spray! Put it on before you get out of your vehicle! You don't even realize you're being bit until it's too late! It's not the waterfall's fault, so I probably shouldn't take off a star. But maybe it will make others read it before they go.
