Its timetable is designed to move hikers from south to north so they can comfortably walk the trail in the preferred north-to-south direction. For most hikers, the easiest approach is to leave your car at the end of your walk and take the shuttle to your starting point on day one. This removes the pressure of finishing on time and ensures your gear and transport are waiting for you at the end.

If you're walking the Southern Stage, you can book this ticket to begin your hike at Jimmy Creek and finish in Dunkeld, or leave your car at the end and get shuttled back to your chosen starting point. For the full GPT, hikers leaving their car in Halls Gap can book the Northern Zone shuttle to reach the start of the trail and use the Southern Zone ticket to return to Halls Gap at the end. Those starting or ending in Dunkeld can opt for the GPT Express End-2-End ticket, which provides seamless transport from Dunkeld to Halls Gap in one convenient trip.
