The GPT Express is a dedicated hiking shuttle service that covers the entire trail from Dunkeld to Mount Zero, designed to make your hiking experience seamless and stress-free. Its schedule is structured to transport hikers from south to north, allowing you to enjoy the trail from north to south without the worry of returning to your starting point. For most multi-day hikes, it’s ideal to leave your car at the end of your walk and use the shuttle on the first day to reach the starting point. This way, you can complete your hike at a comfortable pace without the pressure of rushing back to your vehicle, and all your belongings will be conveniently waiting for you at the end.
For those walking the Southern Stage, you can book a ticket to start your walk at Jimmy Creek and be picked up at Dunkeld, or leave your car at the trail’s end and arrange a pick-up to return to your preferred starting location. Hikers covering the entire GPT trail have flexible options depending on where they leave their vehicle: if your car is in Halls Gap, use the Northern Zone shuttle to reach the start and the Southern Zone ticket to be picked up at the end and returned to Halls Gap. Alternatively, if leaving your car in Dunkeld, the GPT Express End-to-End ticket allows you to travel from Dunkeld all the way to Halls Gap in one smooth journey. This service ensures that hikers can focus on enjoying the trail, the scenery, and the adventure without logistical concerns.

The Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre is the perfect starting point for anyone spending time in the Grampians. Conveniently located right on the main street in Halls Gap, the centre provides a wealth of resources that make planning your trip easy. Inside you’ll find shelves full of brochures, maps, and guides covering everything from walking trails and waterfalls to local restaurants, cafés, wineries, and accommodation. There are also displays highlighting the natural and cultural heritage of the region, which add some great context before heading out to explore. What stood out most for us was the staff, knowledgeable, approachable, and always happy to share tips on the best lookouts, family-friendly activities, or hidden gems you might otherwise miss. They answered our questions thoroughly and even suggested a few lesser-known hikes that turned out to be highlights of our trip. The visitor centre itself is modern, clean, and well laid out, with clear maps of the surrounding area and up-to-date event listings. If you’re planning to spend a few days (or longer) in the Grampians, I’d highly recommend stopping in here first. It’s the best way to make sure you’ve ticked off all the key points of interest and are fully prepared to enjoy everything this stunning region has to offer.

Very ordinary experience. I'm bringing up to 25 people into the town in a couple of months and called to see if they could give us some information packs. Was told to just go online. Upon further enquiry found they do have a map of the area for sale for $4. Can I get some free maps then please.....no...they are $4. Can't help you any further. While the lady wasn't rude she was just plain unhelpful and uninterested in trying to help me in my way. Great welcome to the town 🙄

The staff was very helpful and gave us some great advice on where we could visit and advised to fit in a short walk , even though it rained a little and we were not disappointed. Thanks again for your advice
