In this enriching architecture tour, you will journey through the remarkable Otaniemi University Campus in Espoo, a district just outside central Helsinki where innovation and Nordic design blend seamlessly. Established in 1949 with a masterplan conceived by Alvar Aalto, the campus reflects decades of architectural evolution, from mid-century modernism to cutting-edge contemporary design. As you explore the area, you will encounter Dipoli, originally built in 1966 by Reima and Raili Pietila and later restored by ALA Architects, now functioning as an inviting public and university event center. The tour continues to the Undergraduate Centre by Aalto, restored in 2015, showcasing its iconic roof forms and luminous interiors that exemplify the architect’s mastery of natural light. You will also visit the Harald Herlin Learning Centre, originally Aalto’s library and later revitalized by JKMM Architects, where a harmony of preserved heritage and warm Scandinavian minimalism creates an inspiring learning environment.

I’ve been visiting the Marine Department for the past few days and found it incredibly active — not only in research and science but also in sports! They have great teams in badminton and football. Truly inspiring to see such a dynamic environment.

I attended a conference at Aalto University. People-oriented architecture both inside and out, and a massive campus. I appreciate the diversity of dining options on campus. There's a restaurant to cater to everyone's tastes. Additionally, the convenient accessibility of transportation is a significant advantage. Finland has put in a lot of effort to make students feel comfortable and stress-free on campus. The campus is clean and a pleasant place. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here. Also, their lecture halls are massive compared to those at my home university. They even have vending machines and a charming cafeteria with delicious food. A complete buffet, in fact. Not just food, but a buffet. A place where you can sit and eat slowly and comfortably before your next class. The metro station has a small mall, as is usual, for convenient shopping. Lecture halls are big and ventilated. After all it was a nice experience and I really enjoyed.

It doesn’t even appear like a school, it looks like a hotel in the United Kingdom. Stunning architecture inside out and massive campus. I appreciate the different eateries on campus. I’ve been to a handful of them and would 100 percent recommend. "Jungle Juice Bar" you can taste the health and fruitiness within the cup. I’ve also been to "Ravintola Fat Lizard" to acquire a strawberry shake which was heavenly. There’s a restaurant to please everyone’s tastebuds. Also the transportation being conveniently accessible is a great plus. Finland put a ton of effort in making students as comfortable and stress free on campus. Joyful I had the privilege of being an exchange student at one of the most pristine universities in the whole world. The campus is always tidy and a lovely place to be. Would not hesitate to return here. Also their lecture halls are massive compared to those at the Namibia University of Science and Technology—the university I’m originally from. They even have vending machines and a lovely cafeteria with yummy food. A whole buffet even. Not just food but a buffet. A place to sit and eat slowly and comfortably before your next lecture. The metro station has a mall per usual for convenient shopping. To add sprinkles on top, some class venues don't even look like classes. They appear more like concert venues, minus the front zone standing. With the stage in front for the lecturer to deliver the lecture.

This university is easily the most beautiful university I have visited or attended in Finland. The architecture of the buildings, the designs and decor of the rooms, the proximity of the Metro to the major buildings, applaudable feat.
