PeruRail Vistadome: where the views are scenic, but the experience is a mixed bag. Arrival times? Forget about it. It's like they're trying to break some sort of record for most stops in one station. Better bring your running shoes! The Vistadome's glass roof is more like a tease – you get a sliver of sky, but the real views are outside the window. Seats are tables, so you'll be cozying up with strangers... or your family, like us. Drinks are pricey, but hey, at least they have beer and wine. The snacks are a nice touch, even if the ice situation is a bit... glacial. The Inca dance show and alpaca fashion extravaganza are... unique. Let's just say it's a sales pitch with a side of entertainment. And then there's the bathroom – a thrilling experience that'll leave you questioning life choices. 4/5 stars for views, 2/5 stars for entertainment, and -1 star for the bathroom's existential crisis.

I took the vistadome voyager from Ollantaytambo to Machu Pichu. Best to board from Ollantaytambo as the journey from Cusco is very slow. The train is always crowded but the vibe is good. The seats are little cramped but the views are to die for. They provide quinoa cookies and a bar each way included in the fare. Trains can be delayed sometimes. Just keep your fingers crossed that you are lucky! To reach Machu Pichu all your stars have to align!

As others had say tourist train to Machu Picchu is very limited and expensive for the 1.5 hours ride from town to Machu Picchu. Thankfully we joined a tour group and everything was arranged for us. The ride was beautiful and the crew actually putting a folk song story for the cart. It was corny but fun spirit. Our seats were comfortable and the view was as good as expected. Our return train cart of full of engine smell the whole ride, I was afraid of CO poisoning 😱 the whole ride.
