I took a private ASA101 lesson with Learn To Sail San Diego. My instructor, Tyler was super knowledgeable and I learned way more than I expected! I had been sailing for a bit but wanted to start the certification process. The class was right-sized to my skills and gaps. And San Diego is such a great place to sail!

I recently completed ASA 101, 103, and 104 with Learn to Sail San Diego, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Captain Richard Darmanin was an outstanding instructor—patient, knowledgeable, and always reminding us that he was “teaching us a sport for life.” Over six days, we sailed from San Diego Harbor to Mission Bay, Dana Point, and Catalina Island (Two Harbors and Avalon), gaining not only valuable sailing skills but also unforgettable memories. The balance of hands-on training, seamanship, and real-world cruising made every moment meaningful. Beyond the technical skills, this trip was about camaraderie, adventure, and connecting with people—something Captain Richie fostered every step of the way. I cannot recommend Learn to Sail San Diego highly enough to anyone looking to build a strong foundation in sailing while having the time of their life.

Captain Jeff is a gifted instructor. He helped my wife and I go from nervous novices to confident (beginning) sailors. His patient, calm demeanor and reassuring words helped us feel at ease as we practiced skills until we were proficient. Melinda was very easy to work with in arranging the classes and everything was seamless. Thank both of you for a wonderful learning experience. We look forward to more training in the future!
