Explore the magnificent Raufarhólshellir lava tunnel, one of Iceland’s longest and most well-known lava tubes. Located just 30 minutes from Reykjavík, it is easily accessible throughout the year, making it a popular destination for both tourists and geology enthusiasts. The tunnel offers a unique glimpse into Iceland’s volcanic landscape, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the natural formations created by powerful seismic activity.
Inside the tunnel, the floor is covered with large rocks, making it challenging to navigate on foot. To ensure safety and accessibility, paths and a footbridge have been constructed, allowing visitors to explore comfortably during the Lava Tunnel Tour. Impressive lighting throughout the tunnel highlights the changing colors of the rock and emphasizes the dramatic forces of nature that shaped this remarkable underground formation.

We did the evening hike with Isla. She was a fantastic guide; friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The tunnel was a fabulous experience and we were able to see the Northern Lights from inside. A highlight of our trip. Pure adventure.

Very interesting and educational experience. The tour was not long, so very doable/easy with kids or people who don't want to have a strenuous activity. The ending was very unique and special. If you pair with the Lava Show you can get a bit of a discount.

We did this tour on 11/25 and we were so happy with the cave and with our tour guide Alex. He made the whole tour so entertaining and gave us so good information. If you are in the area you should definitely check out the tour.

Very cool experience! We were taken out to the location by Arctic Adventure Tours and were handed over to the experienced Lava Cave Guides. The guide was very knowledgeable and ensured we stayed safe. Helmets with lights need to be worn. Recommend you wear warm clothes, gloves and good shoes. The tunnel is cold and the rock surfaces can be unsteady and unstable. The information about the formation of the cave and the way it's developed is very interesting. A nice hot chocolate at the end of the tour is welcomed! Highly recommend this tour if you're visiting Iceland.

We had a fantastic experience! Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole walk through the lava cave fascinating. We really enjoyed learning about how it was formed and all the unique features inside. Highly recommend this tour!

We throughly enjoyed our visit to the Lava Tunnel, our guide Dimitri was informative and engaged well with his audience.

Our guide gave great information and was very entertaining. Also, took a great family picture for us.

Juan was a fantastic guide!! Thank you for going above and beyond to make this such a cool experience, you rock!!!

Pitch darkness. Then light. The cave is amazing. Can see the age of the cave by the water marks. It’s definitely worth seeing. Our Guide was super helpful and knowledgeable. A 5 out of 5

30 people per tour. Tour guide was informative, humorous, and friendly. The cave is lit just the right amount. The guide will turn off all the lights for a few minutes for you to enjoy pure silence and darkness - a rare treat in the modern world.
