Had an amazing day on the Snorkeling day trip to Similan Islands! Sam, our tour guide, was excellent and we even saw a turtle!
I've been traveling South East Asia for 3 months now and needless to say I've had some great experiences along the way. Yesterday I took a trip to the Similan Islands with Phuket Snorkelling Tours and I can honestly say it is without doubt one of the highlights of my travels so far. We saw a whale breaching the surface close to our boat along with flying fish on the way out and we hadn't even arrived at the Similans! We landed on Island 8 first and climbed up to the viewing point to take in the breath taking scenery. There was enough time for a 20 minute snorkel and then it was back on the boat to travel round another 3 islands. The abundance of life was incredible and I often found myself in the middle of huge shoals of beautifully coloured fish. I was lucky enough to encounter some huge yellow fin tuna, several large adult barracuda and to top it off I got the chance to swim with a wild sea turtle for around 10 minutes which was absolutely incredible. Lunch was served at the beach on one of the islands and was very good. The tour guide and her staff were great and very helpful/enthusiastic. I was particularly impressed with the passion our tour guide had for the Similan National Park and she gave very clear instructions on what was prohibited to ensure the Similan Islands remain such a magical place for years to come. I can't recommend this trip enough!
This was my first visit to Thailand and we organised a trip to visit the Similan Islands through Phuket Snorkelling Tours. The day was a fantastic adventure suitable for all ages and the highlight was snorkelling with wild sea turtles. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!
A friend and I were fortunate tenough to win a day trip to Racha Yai Island, courtesy of Phuket Snorkelling Tours, in a fancy dress competition held at Tiger Muay Thai. It was a great day out as long as you don't mind being ushured about like you are on a school trip and are happy sharing the beach, snorkelling area and boats with hundreds of other tourists doing an identical trip to you!! The guides were very friendly and efficient but the day was a little regimental and a bit rushed with not as much relaxing sunbathing time as hoped for! The lunch that was included was a delicious Thai set menu and much better than we had been expecting. We saw loads of stunning fish whilst snorkelling despite the number of people in the water and the beach was lovely, white and sandy with plenty of sunbeds to hire if you wanted one. Altogether I would have to say that this snorkelling trip was one of the best experiences I have ever done. I couldn't believe how clear the water was and how close I could get to all the schools of fish. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys a bit of adventure with some amazing scenery.
