I took their Shore excursion to Peninsula Valdez or Punta Tambo private car in late January, 2026. Seeing the amazing penguin colony at Punta Tombo is an incredible experience and well worth seeing. Once there, my party and I had a fantastic time seeing thousands of penguins, many very close up. The experience was significantly tarnished by how much we were overcharged by this tour company. The tour cost US$176 per person. This was reasonable. However, in addition to this fee, we were told early on that we had to bring US$138 only in $100 or $50 bills to pay for admission to the private preserve and our three boxed lunches. At the exchange rate that day, that would come to 199,000 Argentine pesos. HOWEVER, based on the official website (Pingüinos en Tombo | Entretur), the admission fee for foreign tourists is 25,000 pesos (about US$18.00) per person or 75,000 total ($54.00.) That left 125,000 pesos ($87.00) for the 3 boxed lunches, each thus costing US$29! The lunches consisted of two small meat rolls, a banana, a granola bar + water - emphatically not worth anywhere close to US $29. In communication with the owner, I was told that this flat US$138 entrance+lunch fee was listed due to fluctuations in the Argentine peso. This is a very poor excuse for significantly overcharging us. As the owner communicated frequently with me, they could have sent me the current US$ conversion the day before the excursion-yet they didn’t. They were content to require what was a significant overcharge as extra profit. On top of that, our guide wasn’t particularly good. The car had very little legroom, both front and back. On the way there, he initially spoke so quietly to my colleague in the front seat that we couldn’t hear him in the back. Despite my specific requests to speak louder, this only happened for a few minutes. He was also somewhat difficult to understand with the car noise. On a positive note, he was very attentive to us walking through the preserve. I regret that I cannot recommend anyone take this company’s tour. I felt financially cheated and was not particularly impressed with the guide Surely, they can either easily factor in the 25,000 Argentine peso admission fee into the cost of the tour or make it known that Argentine pesos are accepted for admission, which I could have easily provided. To their credit, they did provide me with a 30% refund
