I recently had the pleasure of staying at Markree Castle while photographing a retreat featuring two styled weddings, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, every member of the staff was kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The castle itself is breathtaking — full of charm, history, and beautifully maintained details that make every corner photo-worthy. My room was cozy and comfortable, offering the perfect balance of luxury and warmth after a long day of shooting. And the food — absolutely spectacular! Every meal was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Markree Castle is truly a dream venue for both guests and photographers alike — I can’t wait to return!

I had an incredible experience staying at Markree Castle for three days last week. I attended an international florist and photographer retreat, and these are some of my photos from the event. Staying at the castle for two nights was perfectly restful, the rooms were quiet, service and food were excellent. Accommodations were clean and had everything I needed. The property is absolutely gorgeous and full of history and fun facts. Deirdre, Nicholas and the entire staff were so hospitable and welcoming to our group. I would happily stay here again next time I'm in Sligo! If you are looking for a venue for your wedding or event, or accommodations in this part of Ireland, I highly recommend Markree Castle!

We stayed in markree castle for one night b&b and all I can say it was amazing from start to finish. When we arrived we were greeted by the loveliest staff that made us feel right at home. First off we had complementary teas and coffee with home made sweet treats. Then we took a walk around the gardens of the castle which was spectacular. That evening we booked in a 4 course evening meal which was the last word in a room fit for a king! All I can say it was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and hopefully will return for a visit some day soon.

My wife and I were married here in September '25. The castle and grounds were stunning and perfectly maintained. All of our guests couldn't stop talking about how magical the setting was. The service was white glove and made us feel special from the moment we entered the castle. The staff was extremely attentive and made our stay truly special. We hope to return soon!

We had our Wedding in Markree Castle in July. From our 1st viewing we instantly knew it was where we wanted to get married. The day was perfect thanks to Deirdre and Owen. Our entire experience with all members of staff was exceptional. All of our guests came away having had a wonderful experience. Everything is done to the highest of standards especially the food. It really was the most magical of days and the Castle and surrounds all add to this. We really felt part of the Markree Castle family while we were there. The attention to detail is superb. The whole experience was like a dream come true and one we will never forget.
