Join a local historian on a captivating walking tour along Edinburgh’s iconic Royal Mile and uncover the city’s rich tapestry of history, literature, crime, and battle. As you wander beyond the usual tourist paths, you’ll explore hidden corners of Edinburgh—from secluded Victorian gardens to centuries-old buildings, each with a story to tell. Discover how the city was home to some of the world’s first “skyscrapers,” long before the trend caught on elsewhere, and meet the infamous local criminal who inspired Jekyll & Hyde. Along the way, learn where the term “Black Market” originated, locate the real grave of Ebenezer Scrooge, and hear how Edinburgh University was intertwined with the notorious serial killers Burke & Hare. The city’s history is fascinating, and your enthusiastic guide brings each tale vividly to life, blending education with entertainment at every step.
The tour also includes a journey into Edinburgh’s Underground Vaults, one of the city’s most secretive and historic sites. Descend into these shadowy vaults to hear about their dark past, the strange and unexplained occurrences reported there, and the famous characters who once roamed these hidden corridors. This unique experience offers a thrilling perspective on Edinburgh’s history, blending real events with eerie stories that have captivated locals and visitors alike. By the end of the tour, you’ll have discovered a side of Edinburgh that few ever see—a blend of history, mystery, and intrigue that stays with you long after you leave.

Great tour and the young lady who led the tour was extremely pleasant, professional and polite just don’t call her Morgan.;) A delightful time indeed! We were also able to take pics on the streets as well, going in and out of a tunnel.
Daryl

What a fun tour! It brought us to some genuinely spooky places, and the stories to go along with them were entertaining. Our tour guide, known as Frederich, was charismatic and hilarious. Cannot recommend enough!

When my dad told me he had booked a ghost tour I was not very excited, surprisingly it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. This is entirely due to our incredible tour guide Helen! This young lady was engaging, informative and downright hilarious. Our entire tour group was both rolling with laughter and screaming in terror at her antics, and we could not have left more impressed. The atmosphere and ambiance of the areas we explored were also excellent. If I could this tour (and especially Helen) more than 5 stars I would, highly recommend.

Went on the 9:15 tour our last night in Edinburgh. Our guide John Kincaid was witty, knowledgeable and an excellent story teller. We throughly enjoyed all of the places we visited and ended up at Banshee Labyrinth after per suggestion. It was a great way to spend our last night in Scotland and we got to go to some unique and interesting places we wouldn't have found before! We also has some strange things happen with our phones in the vaults that scared our nephew so much he thought we were pulling an elaborate prank on him!! Thank you for the great time and experience.
Rebecca
