I booked my tour via Viator-Sintra, Pena Palace and small group wine tasting and it was perfect. Our tour guide was outstanding too. He was knowledgeable, funny and embodied a passion for sharing the incredible history of Portugal.

The small group day tour of Sintra, Belem and Caiscais with Dyego was fantastic. Informative, easy to understand and personable. He took real care of us and I came away with a much better overview of Portuguese history and culture, past and present. The tour is 9 hours long so not rushed and well worth the cost.

The tour was well planned, and all the must-see stops were included. The vehicle was modern, clean, and felt safe. Negative: Unfortunately, the guide was late twice at the meeting point. The lunch break lasted two full hours – far too long for a day tour, and it felt like wasted time. At the wine tasting, we had to wait an additional 25 minutes because we were waiting for other groups. Overall, the guide seemed unmotivated – during lunch and the wine tasting he was often absent from the group, while other guides were very engaged with their guests. Most concerning: the guide was texting on his phone while driving, which caused the vehicle’s safety system to brake once because he reacted too late. This seriously affected the feeling of safety. Considering the price of the tour, the value for money is not right – I cannot recommend it. Conclusion: The route itself was good, but organization, guide engagement, and above all safety need urgent improvement.
