Lipica Stud Farm, the birthplace of the elegant Lipizzaner horses, offers a captivating look into a tradition that began over 400 years ago under the Habsburgs. Here, you can witness these noble white horses during training sessions or admire them in an impressive show that showcases their grace and strength. The farm’s peaceful surroundings and deep historical roots make it a unique cultural experience.

Continuing through a changing landscape, the journey leads to the sparkling Adriatic coast and the charming town of Piran, once an important Venetian port. Its narrow streets, seaside views, and warm Mediterranean atmosphere create an inviting and romantic setting. With a history of being a hidden love retreat for Venetians in the 13th century, Piran still carries an irresistible charm that makes it a delightful place to explore.

I have ambivalent feeling after the visit of the farm. Although it was a nice Sunday afternoon activity, I somehow expected the experience to be different. Better, let’s say. The farm itself is nice, but things that are there to visit are less impressive. The museum exposition has reached its expiration date. The walk around stables is nice, but you can’t visit as many buildings as you would like to. (Or as many as are noted in the guide pamphlet) The display of the carriages should at least be enlightened, as you see more of your reflection than of what is behind the glass. We also went to see the show, it was just okay. The whole presentation of it on the website raised expectations that were not really met, in the end. But it still was an experience and afternoon well spent. And finally, the fact that there is Casino and paid parking lot in middle of all this makes this place looking cheap and obscure.

A tour is offered in five languages (EN, DE, IT, FR, SL) every two hours. The tour is lovely, just the right length to be informative and not long and you get to see the main points of the farm. I would highly recommend booking the horse show. There's playgrounds outside of the farm if you have kids.

A fun day out for anyone with even the slightest interest in horses. As well as the informative displays and museums, there’s nearly always something else going on to keep you entertained, whether it’s training or competitions.

I really enjoyed the day. Our guide Mika was friendly and knowledgeable. We had plenty of time to enjoy the stud farm and Piran. I would definitely recommend!

Disappointed with the guided tour today (9th June @ midday), the guide was rude and shut a few people down when they asked questions. She snapped if they wanted to know that they, " Should book an expert tour!". Which they do not offer! She could have just said she didn't know. It was awkward and unnecessary. The rest of the tour was a bit light on information for anyone who is into horses and wishes to understand more about the breeding and training. Seeing the mares and foals was lovely, but apparently on other days they are usually not there at midday and are out in the field grazing, so the best time to go is around 9.30am to see them gallop out to the field. Temper your expectations...and enjoy?

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip. The Lipica stud farm was fabulous and we were lucky enough to catch the show. Piran is a beautiful town and certainly worth a visit...it was nice to see the coast. Our guide Anna was helpful, efficient and gave us a great insight into her beautiful country.

Had a wonderful trip with excellent guide service by Vasja. While our initial meeting was somewhat comical, I honestly enjoyed and appreciated his earnest efforts in providing us the best experience. I wasn’t planning on visiting Lupica Farm, but had joined the tour in order to have a more comfortable ride to and fro Piran. It was an amazing experience seeing the beautiful horses up close, and stroking a few of them. Piran was every bit the Venetian influenced seaside town I had read and seen online. I was glad to have made it there.

Winter weather visit but you can still see the famous horses here. Not everything was open, so I mostly had the entire experience without crowds of visitors startling the horses. Well stocked souvenir store and if it's important to you the toilets were very clean and comfortable. My only negative thought was that the carriage displays are in desperate need of non-glare glass, impossible to see the displays in the daylight hours without smashing your cupped face right up against the glass.
