This two-hour guided boat experience offers a relaxed and informative way to explore the natural beauty and cultural history of the Ria Formosa. Departing from the harbor in the charming village of Cabanas de Tavira, the tour is led by an experienced skipper who also acts as your guide, sharing valuable insights about the lagoon’s wildlife, waterways, and traditions. As you cruise toward the Tavira inlet, you will enjoy scenic views and learn about the importance of this protected natural area, making the journey both enjoyable and educational for participants aged four and above.
The route continues to the Island of Tavira, well known for its white sandy beaches and historic landmarks linked to traditional tuna fishing. Highlights include views of the old anchors at Praia do Barril and the small fishermen’s cottages that reflect the region’s maritime heritage. The tour then passes through the Quatro Águas channel near Tavira, followed by a stop close to this significant former Roman city, where you will have a thirty-minute break to relax and explore the surroundings. Binoculars and a brochure with local images are provided to enhance your experience before the boat returns to Cabanas, concluding a memorable and enriching excursion.

Keith

This company is amazing. So accommodating and reliable. José was great. We used it between Vila Gale Albocora and Tavira town. A fabulous experience and good value for 4 people +. €15 each way.

The boat could go fast, but on the contrary you will have a slowest ride. Especially past 9am because the driver knows it's too late to see the dolphins !! Avoid

Took a boat from Tavira to Cabanas because we didn't want to take a "normal" taxi cab. A bit more expensive (30€ per boat compared to roughly 20-25 € for the cab) but worth the money. Had my daughter with me (2 years) who like the fun ride down the river way more than sitting in a car. The "driver" was very friendly and cool, very attentive - he immediately reacted to my daughter being afraid of the winds for a few minutes after departure, reducing speed and waiting for her to calm down and to get accustomed to the wind. Awesome.

The trip was great. Our captain drove us through the river, sometimes slowly, sometimes high speeding, just for our fun. He was a very joyable person, as the most of the People of this wonderful place. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Discovery Trip. What the boatman lacked in the English Language he more than made up by his enthusiasm and observational skills. When it appeared he had not communicated a species to us he made sure we understood by pointing the species out to us on the on board guide. Would definitely recommend to any with an interest in birdlife. Don't be put off booking this trip by the definition 'By Appointment' as this merely means the trips are arranged as you need them as opposed to being at fixed times.
