Discover the charming coastal town of Setúbal, the heart of Portugal’s fishing industry, on a journey that combines culture, history, and nature. Begin your day at the vibrant Mercado do Livramento, one of the most famous fish markets in the world, where the colorful stalls overflow with fresh seafood and local produce. Stroll through the historic center to admire its traditional architecture and visit the National Monument Convento de Jesus, a masterpiece of early Manueline style. Continue to the 16th-century Forte de São Felipe, perched high above the city, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Setúbal, the Sado River, and the Tróia Peninsula. Then, embark on a scenic 25-minute ferry ride across the Sado estuary to Comporta, where you’ll be greeted by Troia’s magnificent coastline — 65 kilometers of golden, uninterrupted sand and crystal-clear waters, often visited by playful dolphins. In this highly protected natural reserve, experience the magic of riding horseback through serene rice paddies, fragrant pine forests, and rolling dunes that lead you to the untouched beauty of the Atlantic Coast.

Had a great morning doing a private ride with our friends and family. Staff was lovely.

Not to miss this unique experience if you visit Comporta! Going through the rice fields, sand dunes and the beach! The team is really professional and made us feel really welcomed and safe in every moment. They have a nice bar where to have a drink after riding. They also offer drone videos a pictures of the journey if you wish.

Had a great experience riding there. Horses were very gentle, pretty much just walked on their own. Sometimes my horse stopped to snack on the grass but a simple redirection is all that's needed. The trip started at the rice fields, then a slight sandy hill to the beach. Beautiful views. The guides were friendly.

We had a fantastic experience riding with Mr. Damas (not Xadrez! 😁) and the lovely horses, Sebastião and Lagoalva. Choosing a private tour allowed us to take our time, learn comfortably how to handle the horses, and fully enjoy the stunning views. Mr. Damas was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the entire experience even more memorable. Highly recommended!

Our day trip was amazing! You get your moneys worth, we had about 2 hours horse riding and some free time in the morning to see Setubal, our driver was amazing and very friendly and overall would recommend. The views whilst horse riding were beautiful, worth every penny.

Amazing experience! Artur (driver) and Maria (horsebackriding guide) were such generous, informative and communicative hosts and guides. We felt so safe and comfortable and loved getting to see the beach and surrounds from such a wild perspective. Extra cool was getting to run the horses and even witness a proposal. Thanks Maria and artur for such a special time!!!

I had a great time, Maria was excellent and tailored each persons experience to their riding level. I've been riding for 20 years so I was able to gallop on the beach and my partner who has never ridden before was able to experience a slower pace. The free time in Setubal was nice, we visited the market and purchased fruit and pastries to eat later and visited a nearby church/convent

Good transport (however a little late at the meeting point), nice horses, competent and experienced guide on horse. I would definitively book it again.

I would really recommend this activity. Our tour guide Tom was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and provided expert assistance, tips and overall guidance. He also provided us with a bottle of water and a traditional treat which was duly appreciated. The horse riding experience was great value for money; we spent around 1.5 hours horseback riding and enjoying the amazing scenery along the woods and beach. Maria, the horse riding guide, was very professional and made sure we were comfortable all throughout the activity (especially given that this was our first time riding horses). The horses were also very professionally trained. I would not miss this activity if around Lisbon!

As an experienced rider I paid for a private ride, which meant I could canter along the beach. Just me and a guide, the ride was incredible, on lovely horses too. For me it was a dream come true! The horses all seem well cared for in great facilities, many of them are even rescued. One thing to improve? Communication and booking was difficult, with a few crossed wires! Worth it in the end though.
