Great experience for car hire in Madeira. Reasonable price and very friendly, personal and professional service. We were met at the airport by Sara, who explained everything in absolutely impeccable English, including which roads to avoid and what sights to see (way better insights than our own research before we arrived). The car itself was perfect for the sometimes challenging roads on the island. We had an issue with an oil overfill warning but contacted Ana the owner via WhatsApp and got the issue fixed in half an hour during a short detour to Funchal, including a very pleasant chat with her while we waited. All in all a very pleasant experience and highly recommended. Will definitely be our choice the next time we come!
We chose Auto Rent a Car based on the positive reviews and are happy we did. Every part of the experience was easy and as expected. Because we were staying in the Lido area we picked up from their office. Rafael and the team were super friendly - no needless up charge pitches, just solid advice on roads to avoid, authentic restaurants to try and tips on how best to enjoy our time. Car was clean and problem (and dent!) free. Return was just as easy, with no issues and a quick refund of the reasonable security deposit. Got a ride back to the airport from Pedro, who only added to the positive experience with great driving and friendly conversation. Such a great change of pace to have the rental car part of the trip create such a good vibe. Highly recommend.

Small and powerful cars are a must and this rental service provides these. Airport pickup and drop off works really well and the staff are really friendly.
We rented a car from Auto Rent a Car for 3 days to explore the island, and everything was just perfect! The prices are very reasonable, the car was comfortable and easy to drive, and the service was excellent. The staff member gave us a detailed introduction and even shared great recommendations on where to go and what to see.
