Discover the rich history and cultural depth of Évora and its surrounding prehistoric sites on this immersive full-day tour. Your journey begins with a convenient pick-up from your designated location, followed by a scenic drive through the picturesque Alentejo countryside. Upon arrival in Évora, delve into the city's Roman heritage with a visit to the iconic Roman Temple, where your guide shares fascinating insights into its significance. Continue to the magnificent Cathedral of Évora, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, and enjoy access to its panoramic terrace for breathtaking views of the city. You'll then have free time to explore the charming central square, browse local shops, or relax at a traditional café. The tour proceeds to the eerie yet captivating Chapel of Bones, where thousands of human bones are artfully arranged, and your guide explains the meaning behind this unique site. You’ll also pass by the historic 16th-century Aqueduct of Água de Prata, a testament to early engineering brilliance.

Leaving the city behind, your next stop is a traditional Alentejo restaurant for a delicious local lunch (excluding drinks). After lunch, the tour continues with a visit to the Almendres Interpretative Center, offering valuable context before exploring the Cromeleque dos Almendres, one of Europe’s most important megalithic sites. Learn about its ancient origins, purpose, and the spiritual beliefs of the people who built it. Then visit the Menhir of Almendres, a solitary standing stone believed to have ritual significance. Finally, arrive at the Anta Grande do Zambujeiro, the largest dolmen on the Iberian Peninsula, where your guide shares its prehistoric importance. After a full day of cultural discovery and scenic landscapes, relax on the return journey to your original pick-up point, ending your tour with a deeper appreciation of Portugal’s ancient past.

Great piece of history! The drive is tricky though. You will need a decent car there are a lot of potholes! Worth the visit though!

From the top car park its only a short walk. A much much longer walk from the other lay by area. Easy to misunderstand which one your going to look at due to the poor information. The stones themselves definitely need more information to tell the story behind it. The road up on small dirt bikes was excellent fun but cars need to take it steady.

We visited this site: the walk is quite long since it’s best to leave the car at a distance. The road to get there is in very poor condition, so you really need to drive slowly to avoid damaging the car. The archaeological site itself is nice – there’s nothing around it, but it’s still an interesting place to visit.

Loved it here. It was definitely worth the drive on the rough road to get here. Loved the energy. Such a cool space that many wouldn’t enjoy but big energy space and a lot of history.

Great place to visit, educational posts available along the road near the village. A great hike through cork oak forest is a part of unique experience way in and out of the significant prehistoric sites. Go there in the early morning or before sunset to have cool photos and cool weather
