This full day swimming experience immerses you in the heart of the Garajau partial nature reserve, one of Madeira’s most remarkable marine sanctuaries. The day begins at the Lido Galomar bathing area, a welcoming seaside complex known for its clear waters, mountain protection and easy access to the ocean. From the moment you meet your friendly local guides, you are introduced to an environment where the water shimmers in shades of turquoise and the surrounding cliffs create a peaceful natural amphitheater. As you begin your swim across this protected stretch of coastline, you glide through warm waters filled with thriving marine life, where colorful shoals move gracefully beneath the surface. The landscape above the water is just as captivating, offering a blend of wild beauty and serene views.
After your first swimming session, you will enjoy a delicious Madeiran lunch that restores your energy and celebrates local flavours. The afternoon allows time to discover the surrounding area or return to the sea for a second swim, depending on the group’s preference. Throughout the day, you are supported by experienced guides who ensure comfort, safety and an enjoyable rhythm for every participant. We had an amazing time at the Sentido Galosol. It’s a nice short trip from the airport and also easy to access the city of Funchal by bus or taxi. The hotel is lovely and really clean throughout, including our room and was pretty spotless even the floors were really clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and it’s a really relaxing pace to be for the week (we went in October and was nice and quiet the three of us inc our baby. The hotel was quite baby / child friendly in terms of safety and the room was good with a cot provided for our little one and was safe crawling around. A few points for recommendations, firstly there was no baby changing room in the main part of the hotel, this is something pretty standard in most places so having to wait for our room when we arrived wasn’t ideal doing it in the quiet corner of the reception. Secondly the food options for the evening buffet are amazing as it’s not too much choice that would spoil the quality, but all we would say is one or two more vegetarian/ vegan options would be great. Thirdly, the hotel prides itself on its sustainability goals and it is really good at that, but what was a bit confusing was that there’s a great initiative in place called the Green buddy, which is a knitted toy that you hang on your door each morning to tell the maid that you do not want the room cleaning, but each day they chose to ignore it or made us think do they even know what the green buddy is or what it means? Even when I put the buddy and the do not disturb on a note was left saying we couldn’t clean the room, but the whole point was that we didn’t need it cleaning for that day. So just a bit of staff awareness maybe. The room was so clean we didn’t need it cleaning every day especially when we were napping the baby. Overall we would definitely come back again as Madeira is lush and peaceful. Thanks!

What an amazing hotel and location. It is a beautiful hotel on the coast, great dive school, gym classes, amazing sunrises and sunsets, bus to Funchal outside the door and the staff are wonderful. Looking forward to coming back.

Great stay in this Hotel. I can really recommend it! Professional, tidy and an appropriate level of luxury. Two small negative Points: -The door of our room was really not protecting from any noise from the street. -Holder in the shower was loose.

Generally a nice hotel with very friendly staff. You get what is promised on the website, however nothing is really exceptional. For example, breakfast has some nice food options however coffee tastes like the 0.40eur coffee from the University coffee machine. Similarly for the facilities and other services. Everything is there, but it seems a little bit cheap.

Such a lovely quiet relaxing place! Much needed. We stayed 5 nights bed and breakfast. Breakfast was amazing in a lovely setting. Room was so clean good size modern and wonderful sea view and balcony Staff very lovely and friendly and helpful. The hotel has a few other 'sister' hotels and you can access all the pools and amenities like the pools which are great. Plus using the additional bars etc right below the hotel above the swimming lido. All round it was wonderful. I have only one negative and that was the parking. Only 6 spaces in the hotel and parking on a side street in selected bays. Some are paying but it's cheap. The evenings it goes quiet and there are spaces. We waited in the road then it only takes a few mins fir someone coming off the beach/swimming moves. I highly recommend NOT hiring a car from the airport but from canico it's self. The taxi from the airport is cheap enough. There are rental cars nearby.
