A very friendly welcome and experience with our hosts. Having meals in their kitchen, feeding the animals and helping with ploughing their field to prepare for the planting of potatoes when the rainy season starts was an unusual experience! Loved the sail on the lake. Beautiful sunset from the small church at the summit of the mountain behind the village.

Was a lovely staying on the island, the night gets very cold and there is no heating so pack lots of layers! Also there is no signal on the island so make sure to download anything you might need offline (e.g. Google translate dictionaries). There is not a whole lot to do in the area so 1 night is enough. Lots of cute farm animals though :) My homestay family was really lovely and welcoming.

Luquina homestay, a quiet local island where the Aymara live. I experienced a homestay on this island that was an unforgettable experience. I stayed with a local family. We cooked and made delicious bread. We also helped with chores around the farm like collecting sweet potatoes and being a sheep herder. The majority of people living here are farmers. My family at the homestay was very welcoming and even though we had a language barrier we still managed to communicate and share some laughs. When we arrived at the island we were treated to some local song and dance. We dressed in traditional attire and joined in with the fun. We even played some football with the locals and won 2-0. It was an unforgettable experience that felt authentic!

Very friendly people and nice local style room
