For centuries, boats have been the lifeblood of Venice, carrying people, goods, and traditions through the city’s winding canals. Among these, traditional Venetian boats stand out for their distinctive design and the unique rowing style known as voga alla veneta. This immersive experience begins in a boat restoration workshop, where skilled artisans preserve the knowledge of building and maintaining these historic vessels. Here, you will learn about the different types of boats that once navigated the lagoon, from workboats used by fishermen and traders to elegant gondolas reserved for noble families. You will also receive a detailed introduction to Venetian rowing, learning how the standing technique and specialized oar placement allow for precise navigation through narrow waterways and busy canals.
After the workshop, step aboard a traditional Venetian boat and join your instructor for a hands-on rowing lesson. These lightweight, flat-bottomed vessels are guided at a relaxed pace, giving you time to focus on technique while enjoying the intimate beauty of Venice from the water. As you glide through quiet canals, including the historic Jewish Ghetto, you will see the city from a unique perspective far from the typical tourist paths. By participating in this centuries-old tradition, you gain insight into the ingenuity that allowed Venice to thrive as a city on water and leave with a lasting appreciation for its culture and craftsmanship.

Waited for about 30 minutes for the boat, but it’s a clean ride. Full of people also. We went to Murano at 12:40. It is busy at this hour. Also it’s October as for the month.

It was very nice, the people from the boat were very kind, we were in venice from santa zuccheria to murano, and even though the sea was rougher, we had a very pleasant experience! Thanks

Great experience and service. Travelling around was easy.

Excellent service. Easy to understand the process. The brochure provides all the information needed on station locations and times. The attendants explain everything before you board and the crew members were all very helpful. You can sit outside without a canopy, under the canopy or in an air-conditioned cabin area. Be aware that the times stated is when the boat leave not when it arrives.

Venetiana was an awesome experience for me and my family of three. We have a two year old and the boat was easily accessible to her stroller, we never felt like a burden. For your money, it’s a great deal because the water-bus will take you around the same places for almost the same price for two days, but have more unneeded stops & doesn’t include an audio guide. This takes you to all the places you would want to see in Venice if you have a short trip. The app was so cool, and allowed us to experience the history of Venice without having to pay for a private tour guide. Make sure to read how to use the app BEFORE you go. It’s all written clearly on the website instructions when registering, so the bad reviews are just due to lack of research and reading. It’s super easy to download & understand. The glass shop demonstration included was a huge bonus, so fun! The boat also wasn’t too crowded, as we saw a lot of overcrowded boats passing, and I was so thankful we were not on those. There’s also an open section with no top, an outdoor section with a top, and indoor section with AC. Also the time starts 24 to 48 hours (depending on what you book) from the first time you board, so we were able to board on our third day, one last time in the morning, which really helped our exploration!
