Step into a fascinating journey through the centuries to discover the hidden queer history of Venice, a city whose past is as intricate as its canals. Learn about Rolandina, one of the earliest known transgender figures in Italy, and explore how gender identity and same-sex relationships were perceived in different eras. From the Middle Ages, when such practices were condemned, to the lively centuries that followed, this tour reveals how Venice evolved from secrecy and persecution to tolerance and artistic celebration. Walk through the same streets where travelers of the Grand Tour explored freedom and beauty, and learn how writers like Thomas Mann and Frederick Rolfe transformed Venice into a symbol of desire, passion, and self-expression.
Continue your journey into the modern era as you uncover how the city was shaped by social reforms and the cultural movements that followed. Hear stories of resilience and acceptance, and see how Venice today celebrates diversity with pride. Along the way, discover the city’s connection to icons like Madonna and how her art continues to echo through Venice’s labyrinthine streets. This unique experience offers a powerful mix of history, art, and identity, showcasing Venice as a city of openness and human spirit across the ages.

Fraser is an excellent local guide who tells passionate stories of LGBT folk bringing back stories of forgotten and untold histories. If you're in Edinburgh, go see them.

Highly recommend this walking tour! The storytelling was fun, engaging, and full of passion for Scotland’s history. The tour ran a bit longer than expected, but everyone stayed until the end because it was so interesting. We even tried his restaurant recommendation afterwards and loved it. He clearly has a real love for his city and country, which makes the experience unique and memorable.

Fraser Horn was awesome! They were able to keep 12 American teenagers entertained- very funny and great information, including answering a lot of questions asked by the kids. Walking through the graveyard was really cool. Highly recommended!

A great activity for an afternoon in Edinburgh with a very sweet canine tour assistant. Loved learning more about Edinburgh’s queeroes and villains and the tour itself was very accessible- limited stairs! Easy to find and a great spot to check out other places around the royal mile before and afterwards

Got the chance to join a small group on a rare sunny morning for a walk across old town. The tour covers important parts around the castle and royal mile, and moves at a steady pace making it perfect for people of all ages. Fraser is well equipped with the historical knowledge of the sites visited, and had answers to pretty much all of our queries during the walk. The tour is fun and you get chances aplenty to interact and bond with the rest of the group. Highly recommend for an informative and leisurely experience of the best of Edinburgh.
