Begin your journey with a private pick-up from the location of your choice, where your expert guide will escort you by car to the enchanting Villa Borghese—Rome’s beloved green oasis and one of Italy’s most stunning historic parks. Spanning over 80 hectares, this once-private estate of the influential Borghese family now houses elegant gardens, serene pathways, and cultural treasures. Your adventure begins at the Bioparco di Roma, one of Europe’s oldest zoological parks, where more than 1,100 animals of 222 species live in open, naturalistic enclosures. From friendly giraffes greeting you at the entrance to exotic birds, majestic big cats, and a captivating reptile house, the Bioparco offers an engaging, family-friendly experience surrounded by nature.
After exploring the zoo, your guide leads you on a leisurely stroll through the elegant 19th-century gardens of Villa Borghese. Along the way, discover hidden gems including a replica of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, historical arenas, neoclassical statues, and ornate fountains. The route brings you to the postcard-perfect Lake Garden, where the Temple of Asclepius appears to float upon the water. Continue to Piazzale Napoleone to enjoy a refreshing gelato or Italian coffee while admiring sweeping views over Rome. The tour concludes at the grand Piazza del Popolo, where ancient obelisks, stunning churches, and timeless Roman artistry frame the perfect ending to this unforgettable experience.

One of the best designed and best maintained zoos we have visited in Europe. We visited in February, so many animals were indoors, which is completely understandable for the season. While the variety of species is not huge, the mix of animals was well chosen and enjoyable. It is an ideal half day visit for both families with children and adults. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the park is well organised with plenty of food options and clean toilets conveniently located throughout.

I went there with my dad after new years eve and it was the perfect way to digest and relax after a busy day/night ! It was a fun day and the zoo in itself is beautiful. There was decorations everywhere (I think it was an art exposition) and it made the place look whimsical. You can get nice hot chocolates at some of the food trucks.

We took the kids (2 & 4) on a Sunday before a Bank Holiday Monday. There were a lot of visitors but not too crowded. There was no waiting, no issues for the kids trying to see the animals. The staff were very welcoming and informative and especially friendly. The food in the Meerkat Café was lovely and the coffee was good too. There was also free face painting in the same Café. Highly recommend for a day of minimum 2 hours to as long as you would like.

A really fun day out around lunch time! The animals are really cool and the staff are kind and you’ll often find them and they’ll tell you about some of the rare and endangered animals they have. There’s plenty of WC, seating areas, food and more. Really enjoyed my visit and we were there for 3 hours without boredom! There’s a farm included in the zoo experience as well as a small reptile house showing a crocodile and a very impressive dinosaur fossil! There was also very little foot traffic and the place was quiet so we didn’t have to worry about queues or people spoiling photos.

What a fun day out walking around the very accessible zoo. Recommended routes means you don’t miss anything. Good array of animals. It’s not the biggest Zoo by any means but really nice to while away a few hours. Great value at €25 on the gate. Cheaper if you book online. Not so many places to eat were open on this cold December morning but there seem to be plenty of different places in the warmer months. The enclosures are plenty big enough for all the animals and they are well looked after. In the winter there looks to be a fabulous light show walk which I wish I had time to do. Get yourself along to Dublin Zoo.
