Surfing Experience Brings Wave Riding Adventure to Connemara’s Wild Atlantic Coast

A guided surfing experience along the west coast of Connemara is introducing visitors to one of Ireland’s most dynamic coastal sports, combining beginner-friendly instruction with the raw energy of the Atlantic Ocean.

Set against the backdrop of the Wild Atlantic Way, the experience is designed to suit all skill levels, from first-time surfers learning to stand on a board to more experienced riders refining their technique. Small group coaching ensures personalised guidance, with expert instructors focusing on safety, confidence, and progression in the water.

The surfing sessions take place near the coastal area of Ballyconneely, known for its expansive beaches and consistent Atlantic swells. Its long stretches of pale sand and open coastline create favourable conditions for learning, while also offering space for more advanced practice depending on conditions.

Participants are guided through each stage of the experience, from understanding wave behaviour to catching and riding their first waves.
