Ice Fishing Trip

Embark on a tranquil and unique adventure with our Ice Fishing Trip, which takes you to a frozen lake located just 20 kilometers north of Rovaniemi, above the Arctic Circle. This serene spot offers not only a great opportunity to try ice fishing, but also a perfect escape to immerse yourself in the stunning Arctic wilderness. It’s a place where locals practice ice fishing during the winter, both to catch food and enjoy the peaceful solitude that Lapland’s nature provides. The journey starts with a pick-up from your accommodation, where you’ll be provided with proper winter gear to keep you warm, as temperatures on the lake can be extremely cold. After a short 5-minute walk through the Arctic forest, you'll arrive at the frozen lake, ready to begin your fishing adventure.

Once at the lake, your guide will teach you the basics of ice fishing, including how to drill a hole in the ice and use the right techniques to catch fish. Patience is key as you wait for your first bite, and during this time, you’ll be surrounded by the complete silence and beauty of the Arctic wilderness. The serene environment is perfect for anyone looking to disconnect and connect with nature. Your guide will remain by your side throughout, ensuring your comfort and safety, and will be ready to offer assistance if needed. While you fish, your guide will prepare a campfire, and you’ll be treated to traditional Finnish snacks and hot drinks, warming you up in this icy landscape.

If you’re lucky enough to catch a fish, your guide will cook it over the open fire for you to enjoy as part of your authentic Arctic experience. Should the fish be undersized, they will be released back into the ice unharmed, ensuring sustainability. This experience is designed to be intimate and personal, with small groups of no more than 8 participants, ensuring that everyone gets the attention they deserve and allowing you to fully appreciate the peaceful surroundings.
