The experience begins in the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood, where you will embark on a scenic journey to Montserrat, one of Catalonia’s most iconic mountains. Known for its striking, needle-shaped rock formations, Montserrat offers a perfect half-day escape into nature just a short drive from the city. Along the way, admire the breathtaking Massif of Montserrat and prepare to discover the historic Benedictine Monastery that crowns the mountain. Upon arrival, your guide will introduce you to the Monastery’s rich history, founded in the 10th century and still home to over 70 monks, sharing captivating stories about its spiritual and cultural significance throughout the centuries.
After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the surrounding area at your own pace. Visit the local farmers’ market, relax in the café, or browse for souvenirs before optionally experiencing the revered figure of La Moreneta, the Black Madonna and patron saint of Catalonia, available with the upgrade option. Once you have taken in the serene atmosphere and stunning surroundings, you will reunite with your guide and enjoy a comfortable return journey to Barcelona, completing a memorable half-day trip filled with natural beauty, history, and cultural discovery.

This was an amazing place to visit. The drive up to the the mountain where the monastery is located had some amazing views. The tour was amazing also, the architecture, the history, the art, and the statues was just amazing.

Visited Santa Maria de Montserrat during our trip from Barcelona, and it was one of the highlights of the entire journey! The abbey sits majestically on the mountain and the panoramic views of the Catalan landscape are breathtaking — truly a moment that stays with you. The atmosphere here is peaceful and spiritual, perfect for slowing down, exploring, and soaking up centuries of history. The basilica architecture is stunning and the feeling of being surrounded by such natural beauty and cultural significance is unforgettable.

The views from the top are breathtaking 😍 We visited during winter (January 26th) there was even a bit of snow on top of the mountains. 40 minutes drive from Barcelona airport, this place is a must while visiting Barcelona Arrive early if you want to find a good parking spot, otherwise leave your car right after the firts gate and walk, its a very easy walk, about 15 min. If you come during winter bring proper clothes, the wind makes the temperature cooler

The ride up to top is windy and slightly treacherous in winter. Must get tickets to go inside abbey so we just explored outside area since we’re not catholic. Views are spectacular and mountain is beautiful.

Great experience. We came early JAN2026. Cold day (-3Celsius) but stunning views where we could see the Mediterranean and the snow covered Pyrenees mountains bordering France. I would strongly encourage a visit here. Our tour was too short with the free time exploring. We will come back with our own car some other time.

We had a lovely time, the tour guide was fantastic and very informative about the place. The meeting point was a bit confusing to find at first. My only complaint is that we had 90 minutes to spend after the tour however, we saw so much on the tour that 60 minutes would have been more than sufficient.
Joshua

It was amazing. Great views and a fun hike. Roger was an amazing tour guide.

Great hiking experience with Khan at Montserrat after visiting the Black Madonna. We managed to shoot great photoes and see picturesque landscape. The duration of the tour was just fine to be able to hike, taste the liqueurs of Montserrat and also meet all the pearls of the Monastery.
Diane

We spent a beautiful day with Delph in a location unlike any other!
Roberto

we loved the place and our guide (Katia) was very knowledgeable of the area.
