Monte Verde, Sao Vicente’s natural park, offers a captivating opportunity to explore the island's highest peak through a scenic hike. As you ascend, you’ll be greeted by fresh mountain air and the sights of endemic plants, flowers, and animals that call this protected park home. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by the serenity of the surroundings, making it a perfect place to connect with nature.
At the summit, visitors can relax at the Tea House, enjoying a cup of tea or coffee while soaking in the panoramic views of the island and beyond. From this vantage point, you can appreciate the vastness of the area, including views of the mountains and valleys such as Selada da Baleia, Feijoal Preto, and the Goa Mountains. The Tea House is a perfect spot to take a break and appreciate the natural beauty of the island.
On clear days, the views expand further, offering glimpses of nearby islands such as Santo Antão, Santa Luzia, and Sao Nicolau. Additionally, the islets Branco and Raso become visible, adding to the magnificence of this unique experience. Whether hiking through the park or relaxing with a drink, Monte Verde offers a tranquil escape with breathtaking views and a rich natural environment.

Very nice view from the road up to Monte Verde.

The trail is pleasant and enjoyable, quiet except for the occasional minibus. The effects of the August typhoon are still noticeable in some places. It's a two-hour hike, with stops to take photos. The actual summit is overrun with towers and is a military zone. The tea house, which all the tour companies talk about, is conspicuously absent. So, if you're walking, bring water. A good route to do alone.

7 km uphill. The most beautiful 7 km walk. Worth every step. Do it, walk up to the top and enjoy your present.

You need to be there ;) incredible view and best place to hike

Monte Verde is a must see if you happen to be in St.Vicente! It genuinely deserves more exposure. The view due to difference in altitudes is simply amazing.
