We did the Wildlife at Twilight tour with Backroads Whistler on the River of Golden Dreams and loved it. Our guide, Charlotte, was fantastic—patient, friendly, and super supportive (even after I accidentally tapped her with my paddle—sorry again!). Starting out on the lake was a little challenging because of the wind and light current, but once we entered the river the paddling became smooth and relaxing. We spotted a couple of beavers, and the views at twilight were absolutely beautiful. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour and Backroads Whistler!
Six of us kayaked the River of Golden Dreams, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience – pure fun and adventure from start to finish. We paddled through stunning scenery, tackled mini rapids, and passed over dams. The river levels were low, so we had to do two portages, but that only added to the sense of adventure. The crew gave us excellent instructions before we set off, making the whole trip smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable outdoor experience!

One of the highlights of our trip. The guided tour option was well worth the extra cost as the guides help you to navigate the trickier bends. The excursion allowed for varying ages and skill levels within our party of ten. Equipment was well maintained and staff ensured safety protocols in place. A serene location with breathtaking views of mountains and glacier waters. A remarkable adventure.
Booking with them online was super easy. There's a couple of waivers to complete (online) and then we just showed up! We did the self guided, single kayak experience which I highly recommend. The river is gentle in some parts and a bit faster flowing after two rivers meet. We didn't think "expert level" skills are required but I think it depends on your fitness level and sense of capability to kayak or canoe (vs portage) some sections. We haven't done much kayaking but we are both fairly fit and capable so we didn't feel any hesitancy in continuing on the river. The customer service was great and pick up at the Sports Centre was easy. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend this company and experience!!
