On May 15, 1876, a pivotal moment unfolded here with the tragic demise of Georgi Benkovski. Benkovski, renowned as the principal leader of an uprising, met his end due to treachery. In a grim act, Turkish soldiers washed his severed head in this well, etching the location into history as a silent observer of the fierce struggles for liberation.
