The submarine ‘Slava’ in Varna offers a unique glimpse into Bulgaria’s naval history. Visitors can explore the interior of this retired Soviet-era submarine, see the control rooms, torpedo chambers, and living quarters, and learn about life beneath the sea. It’s an immersive experience for history enthusiasts, maritime fans, and families alike.

This was our second visit, and unfortunately, the experience was worse than the first. The guide brought the entire group to the top of the submarine, briefly shared a few facts that lasted no more than 3-4 minutes, and then said, "I won't explain anything else because it's too complicated for you to understand. If you have questions, feel free to ask." This was definitely not the informative experience we were expecting from a guide. Two years ago, at least we received a bit more historical context when we entered the submarine. While it still wasn't enough, it was more than what we got this time. I wouldn't recommend this experience. You pay 14 leva just to go inside the submarine without gaining any understanding of its different parts. A good guide should be able to explain things in a way that most visitors can grasp the basics. The guide was rude, and we definitely won't be returning for a third visit next summer. It feels like just another money-making machine with little effort put into providing a meaningful experience.
