Our family had the opportunity to spend an entire day with Eva Jesus. We had arranged a private tour combining 3 individual tours offered by GO! Walks Portugal. It was excellent. We did the VIP University Tour and Library, Highlights of Coimbra and Jewish History in Coimbra. Eva is extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, friendly and is an overall lovely person. You will learn so much, presented in an easily understandable way. If you have a day, or even part of a day, to spend in Coimbra, I would highly recommend that you contact this company for a tour. If Eva is available that would be an added plus!

New Review for September 2025 I was so happy with my tour of Coimbra with GowalksPortugal two years ago, that I booked another tour for our trip this September. This time, we wanted to dig deeper into Fado and scheduled a walk again with Eva to explore Coimbra's Fado tradition before seeing a Fado performance in a old church in Coimbra. Coimbra is a small town, yet Eva managed to show us parts of the town we had not visited before, explained the history of Fado, and how important it is to not only Coimbra, but Portugal. During the tour, Eva also shared with us great little local restaurants, helped us understand student life, and gave us tips that helped us with the rest of our time in Coimbra. I am so grateful to have found this small company who truly helps make Coimbra feel like home. October 2023 I am so happy we found this little gem of a company, Gowalksportugal. We took two of their tours while in Coimbra, the Gastronomy tour and the University tour. Our guide Eva is a University student. She showed us some of the hidden bites of the Coimbra food scene, the standout was the suckling pig sandwich paired with the local craft beer. Eva is very knowledgeable about the city and the food, providing us with recommendations for the rest of our stay. The University and Library tour was amazing. I would highly recommend seeing the University through the eyes of a local like Eva. The most special thing was Eva made sure were able to get into a Fado performance after the tour. It was our last night in Coimbra, we had not made reservations and Eva personally escorted us to the Fado venue and ensured we got seats.

Sara crafted an amazing tour, taking us on an incredible journey. She first drove us around the walls of Coimbra and shared her knowledge of the rich history of the city which was impressive! She knew the perfect places for the most spectacular views! We then went onto the Montemor Castle, which was about a half hour outside of Coimbra and gave us a chance to see the landscape including the storks and their nests. Montemor Castle itself seemed like a hidden gem with very few other tourists, but beautiful grounds, gardens and views! A highlight of the tour was our stop on our way back to Coimbra at a local cafe which is one of the only places where they have the secret recipe for Tentúgal pastry. This was a phenomenal experience, we highly recommend this tour!

Two fabulous tours in two days! Upon arriving in Coimbra, we enjoyed a magical 'Evening Under the Moonlight Tour' with Sara, discovering Coimbra's beauty. This comprehensive 3-hour tour explored the historic University, shared charming stories, and offered breathtaking views from steep hillsides along the Mondego River. Sara's warmth, expertise, and local passion made Coimbra shine. The next day we indulged in the delightful Gastronomic Whims Tour with Eva, whose warmth and enthusiasm made the experience unforgettable. Savoring local specialties like cod cakes and pork sandwiches, we discovered hidden gems and rich street history as we strolled through the city. The pièce de résistance was Coisas da Lena, a charming family-owned restaurant, where Lena and her loved ones welcomed us with open arms and treated us to a sumptuous feast of homemade delights.

We thoroughly enjoyed taking the 'Roman Legacy Tour' to Conimbriga with GO! Walks Portugal. We wanted a small group tour, and as it turned out, we were the only two customers. Eva, our friendly and knowledgeable guide, collected us from our accommodation in Coimbra and drove us to the impressive and large Conimbriga site. We truly benefited from Eva guiding us around the archaelogical site, her explanations of what we were seeing, and her answers to our numerous questions. At the end of touring the ruins, we went to the site's small, but excellent museum in which are housed the many artefacts discovered at the site. Eva drove us back to our accommodation after we had finished at the museum. Without having our own transport, this was the perfect way for us to experience Conimbriga in an afternoon whilst staying in Coimbra for 3 nights. Many thanks to Eva and the Go! Walks Portugal team.
