One of the most iconic buildings in the world and definitely the most important and famous attraction of Dubai, Burj Khalifa is simply the icon and symbol of Dubai. Completed in 2010 and standing at 828 meters, the tower features a sleek, triple-lobed design inspired by the Hymenocallis desert flower. It includes luxury residences, the Armani Hotel, corporate offices, and multiple observation decks. The most famous viewpoints are At The Top on levels 124 and 125, and the higher At The Top SKY on level 148. Outside, the tower is anchored by the Dubai Fountain and surrounded by restaurants, promenades, and direct access to Dubai Mall. Burj Khalifa is not only an architectural feat but a global destination known for its panoramic views, record-breaking height, and spectacular nightly displays. I wouldn’t recommend going to the observation deck, it’s too expensive for what you’ll get, the views aren’t mind-blowing or anything, the tower from outside is what’s worth seeing, it’s what makes Dubai Skyline beautiful and majestic. For me, the best way to experience the beauty of the tower is to come at night, watching it glow alongside the dancing fountains show.

Visiting the Burj Khalifa was definitely a bucket list experience, but it came with some significant drawbacks that I wish I had been better prepared for. The main issue was the crowds and wait times. Despite booking tickets in advance, we still faced incredibly long queues that stretched for what felt like hours. The observation deck was packed shoulder-to-shoulder with tourists, making it difficult to get a good spot at the windows for photos. Even with timed entry tickets, the whole experience felt rushed and overcrowded. However, once you actually make it to the viewing areas, the views are absolutely spectacular. Looking out over Dubai from 124 floors up is genuinely breathtaking - you can see the entire city sprawling out beneath you, the coastline stretching into the distance, and the intricate patterns of the Palm Jumeirah. On a clear day, the visibility is incredible, and you really get a sense of just how massive this city has become. The building itself is an impressive feat of engineering, and the high-speed elevators are an experience in themselves. The multimedia presentations during the ascent add some nice context about Dubai’s development. My advice would be to book the earliest possible time slot to avoid some of the crowds, and maybe consider upgrading to the higher floors if your budget allows - it might be worth it for a less chaotic experience. The views truly are unforgettable, but be prepared for the tourist crowds that come with visiting one of the world’s most famous landmarks.

For our visit we bought tickets online, opted for the fast track tickets which lets you jump the queue for the elevator going up and coming back down. You get a fast track sticker for your clothes so the guides can see you are priority. It worked really well for us as the queues were quite long, we went straight to the front. 😆
