Held at 11354 W 13th Ave Suite 6, the 14 hour course offers participants an introduction to essential glassworking techniques under the guidance of experienced glass artist Helen Rudy.
The skills focused workshop combines practical instruction with hands on creative work. Participants learn how to safely cut and shape glass using scorers, nippers and running pliers before refining their pieces through grinding and sanding. The class also introduces design planning, layering techniques and methods for creating decorative details such as dots and pebbles.
Across two days, participants create a decorative fused glass piece while developing sample tiles that demonstrate different firing finishes and textures. The course also explores kiln cycles, annealing, bubble control, molds and slumping techniques. Participants finish with a collection of samples and one larger full fuse creation that demonstrates the skills developed during the workshop.
The workshop is designed for ages 12 and above and costs 480 dollars per person. Both days run from 930 am to 430 pm with a midday lunch break. Tools, glass materials and safety equipment are supplied for the class. Participants should complete their waivers before arriving and wear comfortable clothing suitable for hands on glasswork.
