Silver Salmon begin returning to South Central Alaska in late July, with Kenai Peninsula runs starting in early August. Peak fishing generally occurs from mid August through late September, when the fish are plentiful and fishing action can be very consistent. Silver Salmon commonly weigh between ten and twelve pounds, while larger catches can reach fifteen to twenty pounds.

The adventure begins at Kasilof State Recreation Area, where guests meet for their fishing experience. Because Alaskan weather can change quickly, dressing in several layers is strongly recommended. Rain gear, warm clothing, waterproof footwear, gloves, and suitable headwear can help keep you comfortable throughout the day. Guests should also bring lunch or snacks and a valid fishing license.
