Masca Garachico Icod And Teide National Park Tour
Discover some of Tenerife's most impressive landscapes and historic destinations on this 8 hour island tour. Travel from the dramatic valleys of Masca to the historic town of Garachico, visit Icod de los Vinos and its famous Millennial Dragon Tree, and continue into the volcanic landscapes of Teide National Park. The journey combines mountain scenery, local history, traditional villages and spectacular volcanic views.
The tour begins in the west with a visit to Masca, a small village hidden in the heart of the Teno region. Enjoy time to take photographs and pause beside the local church, which is surrounded by a beautiful centuries old ficus tree. Continue toward Los Carrizales, where there is an opportunity for a short walk before following the winding mountain road toward the northern part of Tenerife, where local agriculture shapes the landscape.
Continue to Garachico, a historic town that was rebuilt after being destroyed by a lava flow from the Black Volcano in 1706. During the visit, explore important sights including the old San Miguel Castle, Santa Ana Church and a park featuring an old wine press. The route then continues to Icod de los Vinos, known as the home of the Millennial Dragon Tree, considered the oldest tree in the Canary Islands.
The journey continues into Teide National Park with a stop at the Chirche viewpoint for photographs before visiting the 500 year old lava flow from the Boca Cangrejo volcano, with views toward La Gomera. Continue to the Sámara volcano for a short walk to its crater and pass Pico Viejo with its huge lava field covering more than 5 square kilometers. At the famous García family rock formations, enjoy time for photographs and visit the nearby Parador del Teide café and souvenir shop. On the return journey south, stop at a viewpoint overlooking several volcanoes and a large pine forest before reaching Vilaflor for a final photo stop at El Pino Gordo, the oldest and largest pine tree.
