This five and a half hour experience combines whale watching with a scenic island dining adventure in Juneau. Guests board a high speed expedition vessel with comfortable seating, wraparound windows, a heated cabin, restroom and outside viewing deck. The cruise offers chances to spot humpback whales, orcas, sea lions, porpoises, seals and eagles. After the wildlife cruise, guests travel to remote Colt Island and visit Orca Point Lodge. The island setting offers peaceful wilderness views and opportunities to explore the shoreline, search for wildlife with spotting scopes and discover intertidal creatures at the marine life observation tank.
Guests can enjoy an Alaskan Surf and Turf meal featuring specialty chowder, locally sourced Alaskan fish, wild Alaskan game and a selection of side dishes. A traditional Alaskan dessert with local jams, jellies and honey completes the meal. Food choices depend on seasonal availability, while limited dietary requests may be accommodated because of the lodges remote setting.
Guests should arrive at least 10 minutes before departure at the Juneau meeting location. Warm layers and a rainproof jacket are recommended for time outdoors. The ground transportation vehicle does not have a wheelchair lift and guests may need to use three to four steps when boarding or leaving the vessel. Guests prone to motion sickness may wish to take medication before departure.
