It’s very important to us that you feel relaxed and enjoy every moment of this flavorful journey through Apulia. Your first stop is the charming town of Altamura, where you'll visit Dicecca, one of the region’s most renowned cheese factories with a rich history dating back to 1930. Here, you’ll witness the live production of traditional cheeses and enjoy a guided tasting of fresh burrata, creamy ricotta, and flavorful caciocavallo—an experience that perfectly captures the essence of southern Italian dairy craftsmanship.
The journey continues with a visit to Panificio La Maggiore, where the unmistakable scent of freshly baked goods welcomes you. You’ll taste the famous Altamura bread, still made following ancient recipes, along with authentic Apulian focaccia and the sweet treat “tette delle monache.” The final stop is at Polvanera, a local winery surrounded by peaceful vineyards. You’ll tour the cellar, walk through the vines, and enjoy a curated tasting of three distinctive wines that reflect the soul of this fertile land. This tour is a perfect blend of culinary tradition, cultural insight, and laid-back discovery.

Vito was an amazing guide. Could not have been better. Super knowledgeable, kind and accommodating. We did a 3 hour tour of Matera and the Sassi, and we loved every minute of it. We highly recommend Vito.

My wife and I had the best tour with Vito! He was born and raised in Matera, as were his ancestors, so he knows this area better than anyone! He showed us the caves and gave us such a great personalized history of every area. We HIGHLY recommend Vito and this tour. You will be very happy you did!

Vito's tour is amazing! He was recommended to us by a friend and we couldn't have been happier. Informative and entertaining, and patient and engaging with our kids! Definitely the tour you want to book in Matera.

Vito is an exceptional guide —thank you for sharing your city with us. Vito is incredibly knowledgeable which comes from being from Matera, his passion for the city is evident. Over three hours we saw so much that we had not uncovered in our two days exploring on our own. Being able to learn so much and even finish the tour with Vito’s family wine cellar was a special treat. You will be lucky to spend a few ours with Vito to learn more about Matera!

Unique, personalised and absolutely wonderful experience around the Sassi of Matera and its ancient history. One of the best ways to experience the history and beautiful architecture of Matera. The B&B where we were staying recommended us to write to Vito for a tour around de Sassi and Civitas of Matera. We spent two wonderful hours with Vito as our private guide, who appart from walking us through all the main streets and lovely piazzas around the historical centre of Matera (and giving us some cool tips on how to continue our journey and telling us fun anecdotes on the movies filmed in Matera), showed us another face of the city and its particular and hard but amazing history. The way he talks about Matera and takes you to areas where no other tourist group usually ventures, shows how passionate he is about the city where he grew up. And that passion and local knowledge is what I value the most whenever I visit a foreign city. Moreover, since we’re from Barcelona and he’s in love with our city, we also had a wonderful conversation about it, and he talked a bit of Spanish and Catalan with us. All in all, If you want to understand how the city works and why has the city changed so much during the last few years at the same time it has kept its ancient wonders, don’t hesitate: just call Vito and take the tour with him. You won’t regret it!
