I took the Statue of Liberty cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it was crowded, the views and overall atmosphere made the trip worthwhile. The Ellis Island narration added valuable historical context, which made the sights even more meaningful. Seeing the Statue of Liberty up close was unforgettable, and the entire experience felt smooth and well-managed despite the crowds. A fun and memorable way to experience an iconic piece of American history.

We had a very smooth experience starting for queue management, security checking, cruise to the liberty island and back. Very well managed and staffs were there to guide us. If you are visiting the iconic Statue of Liberty, this is the only and the best way to go to liberty island. Highly recommended.

We booked our trip with Statue City Cruises — the only official ferry operator for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Be aware that many third-party sellers offer “alternative” tickets online or near Battery Park — most of them are scams or resellers, so always book directly with Statue City Cruises. We took the first boat out in the morning, which is definitely the best choice. Even so, when we arrived 25 minutes before departure, the line was already quite long. Security checks are strict, and large backpacks are not allowed, though it’s not entirely clear what counts as “large.” The ride itself is short and scenic, with fantastic views of Manhattan, the harbor, and the Statue of Liberty. Pro tip: sit on the right side of the boat on the way out — that’s where you’ll get the best photos of the skyline and Lady Liberty. The ferry runs in a triangle between Battery Park, Liberty Island, and Ellis Island, and the same route is available from New Jersey. A well-organized and enjoyable trip with world-class views — just expect some waiting and crowds.

If you want to see the Statue, get on the right side of the boat. The boat will be packed to the brink and it will take a long time to get off. The Park personnel are super helpful even during the federal shutdown in oct 25. Have fun!

Good experience overall! Just a heads-up: this is the only official ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Don’t fall for random people in Battery Park trying to sell you tickets, we saw plenty of that going on. The trip itself was smooth and well-organized, though it was packed. I wish they allow less crowd on the ferries. Ferries were clean, staff was helpful, and boarding was surprisingly efficient for a weekend. We had great views of the Statue from the deck. One small tip: the audio guides would be way more useful if they were handed out on the boat, not after you get off at each island. Also, the devices are a bit bulky? something smaller and more modern would make the experience even better. Otherwise, solid experience and definitely the way to go if you want a legit visit to Lady Liberty!
