Take a profound and educational day trip from Krakow to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps, accompanied by a certified historian and private guide. This private tour offers a respectful and in-depth look into one of the most tragic chapters of human history. Enjoy the convenience of hotel pick-up and comfortable private transportation as you make your way to the memorial site. Throughout the tour, your knowledgeable guide will provide historical context, personal stories, and factual accounts that shed light on the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany during World War II. This experience is designed to not only educate but also honor the memory of the millions who suffered and perished.
Founded in 1940, Auschwitz-Birkenau quickly became the largest and most notorious of the Nazi concentration and extermination camps. Upon arrival, you'll enter through the infamous gate marked "Arbeit macht frei" and explore Auschwitz I, where original buildings and exhibits reveal the harrowing experiences of prisoners. The tour continues to Auschwitz II-Birkenau, a vast site where the majority of mass killings took place as part of the Nazi regime’s “Final Solution.” Here, you’ll witness the scale of the horror, walking past ruins of gas chambers, watchtowers, and railway tracks that once carried countless victims to their deaths. This deeply moving visit is an essential reminder of the importance of remembrance and human dignity.

We booked the 4am tour for Auschwitz for £96 each (tickets to Auschwitz are actually free by the way, you just need to pay about £20 for a guide). We were told at 5pm the night before that our departure time was 1.40am because we had to get there early to secure tickets as the day before 600 missed out on tickets. We agreed to go ahead with the early departure because we booked late and this was our only option. One of the employees messaged and said we could wait in the bus while we waited and the driver would manage the queue, so we thought this would be fine as we could just sleep on the bus until the gates opened. When we arrived outside Auschwitz, we were told we weren’t actually allowed to wait in the bus but instead had to wait in 5 degrees and rain until 7.30am when the gates open. There was no seats, food, water, shelter or toilets where we waited. By the time we finally got into Auschwitz, the tour operator said there were no tickets for English speaking guides left for tours in the morning and recommended we just got any earlier tour. Our tickets with the tour operator clearly stated “English speaking guide”. We thought about waiting until the afternoon to get an English speaking guide but by the time we got the ticket booth the tour operator had already purchased everyone a Polish speaking guide for the morning. No one in our tour group spoke Polish so it really impacted our experience at Auschwitz. As we left Auschwitz, the driver nearly crashed into a reversing bus. We asked for a partial refund and they responded with excuses and said that they were going to update their advertisement (therefore acknowledging that it was completely false and misleading).

Definitely a must do when visiting krakow, Booked online, Driver picked me up at my location and then spent a few hours at the camps! And returned to same location. The guide was nice and friendly. The history of the place is quite overwhelming but would recommend to friends.

A must visit place when in Poland! Our tour guide was very informative and we had a positive visit! It is a long day as the tour lasted for about 5hrs.

The tour guides we had made this very memorable. Both were versed in the history and were not just stating facts but giving some insight. Especially our Auschwitz your guide Symen (sp?). He really just talked to us as he brought us around to this horrible but sacred sight.

I was in 2 minds whether to do this tour as I knew it was going to be very emotional due to the history however seeing is believing. Krakow tours were very professional , organised and very friendly. I am so glad I choose to do this tour in the end as it would have been sacrilege to miss such an experience on a recent visit to Poland .
